Highland Pony in Protest March

Should be pics in the Press and Journal tomorrow. :-)

We led a March today down to the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore today to show the comunities support for this great attraction and to try and stop the Highland Council from trying to close it. If you are ever in Newtonmore it is well worth a visit and it is FREE too.
Here is one of my Highland Mares - Blue (aka Noir...e of Croila) 16 yrs old hitched to a Crofters Cart with traditional farm cart harness. Also I cannot forget Rosie Russell my faithful hound and Fastest Dog in Scotland !!
Google "Fastest Dog in Scotland" if you do not believe me !! ;-)

Anybody recognise this 'crofters wife" she used to show a lot of Highland Ponies - LOL

Lovely pics - shame about possible museum closure:( Highland Council seem to be trying to close heaps of things at mo - we have swimming pools under threat, musical tuition etc.etc. all of which supposedly keep kids busy and off the streets:stealth:

My friend and her family visited the Folk Museum earlier this week. They were saying how amazing a place it is and were shocked to hear it is another target of Highland Council's spending cuts.:eeek: I hope your protest makes a difference:thumbs:
PS Blue is lovely:inlove:
Nairn swimming pool under threat of closure too :bawling:

Great pics and a good turn out for the protest.
Sadly, I think this is going to be the first of very many closures - and not just the non-statutory services ...

Here is the one from the Front of the Press and Journal, the photographer is a friend and his partner volunteers for us :-) (Andrew Smith) The reporter used to live in Kingussie too (Jane Candlish) so I suppose we were guarenteed the front page - LOL

I think the lady you would have met in the Black Houses would have been Jerry Smith from Newtonmore. My brother Fergie and Clydesdale were working at the museum when they were built and helped through all the construction.

Nobody guessed who the "crofters wife" was ??
It is Flo Corrieri - she worked for Hugh Macgregor and then Scott Macgregor with the "dene ponies at Ballinton. She even got a Long Service Medal from The Royal Highland Society too for her years there
She also owned and showed that great gelding Jamiedene !
